The more I read his material and see his experimental way of living, the more Tim resembles Leonardo da Vinci, it may sounds science fiction, but here are my thoughts:

Leonardo da Vinci:

Had a wide range of interests, from painting and sculpting, all the way to engineering and inventing, he was known for making a lot of experiments and putting it all in paper, and its only later that we found out how much innovation he have made, and how early his discoveries have been, without formal education in latin and mathematics, he was still able to lay the foundations for a hang glider, calculator, solar panel and much more.

All of his life he was intrigued and wanted to find out more about everything, his knowledge expended from being a great painter (the mona lisa..), to designing the first parachute.

Tim Ferriss:

ADHD in his soul, always up to something, taking notes of everything he does, constantly trying to improve his personal experience of life, wrote 2 great books, on the first he simplified work and how to make the best out of life by not waiting for the retirement, and do what you love when you still young.

On the second book, he explained more about health subjects, from how to have a great sex to how to lose weight, and in the third book, he will write about “how to study any skill”, which is something I believe is valuable in life, I never trust academic diplomas to prepare me to life, see my future post about it “The Dropout Challenge” (still didn’t write it).

Dude, C’mon! How Can You Seriously Compare One Of The Greatest Artist In All Times To Just A Writer?

First of all, in Leonardo da Vinci times people admired the fine arts, if you wanted to get attention, you should have done something creative, not to say that nowadays you couldn’t draw attention, but when was the last time you said to your friend “Hey! u gotta see this PAINTING! It’s amazing”? Actually I guess you have never said it to your friend, or maybe you’ve said it a few times, but lets admit it, these days we admire Singers, Billionaires, Best Selling Writers, and Tv/Movie Stars.

So naturally I can compare the two.

So what’s make them similar? the experimental lifestyle, Leonardo have had a lot sketches and notes, he taught himself every skill he wanted to know, so does Tim (1 Point).

Leonardo was very famous at the time of his life, so does.. (2 Points).

Well you can see where I’m going there, they had some parallelism, they both basically rocked.

From Painters To Writers

What makes Tim Ferriss compare best, is that he wants to really help people get out of the sheep mindset of “I must work hard, make some money, have kids, then after many years retire and have fun”, he try to shift our mind to be our own da Vinci, do our own experiments, live our life doing minimum maintenance, while having maximum fun, and that’s what so great about him.

I have just read his latest book, something that I should have done long time ago being such a “fan”, and I have discovered that actually, because of the first book, and the mind shift it have given me (I quit my job at Microsoft to do “mini retirement” snowboarding for 2 months in New Zealand breathing nothing but fresh mountain air), I saw that when I read the second book, I knew exactly what to focus on while reading (80/20 principle), and some of what I read there was already known to me, I was discovering the part about having a better sleep with self experimentation (which he did also more extensively).

And then it just Hit me, that he might just be a “Living da Vinci Of Our Time”, doing so much, and taking notes of everything.

If you haven’t, I do recommend you grab his books, they are not best sellers for just nothing, there’s a reason they are.

What do you think about my observation? too outrageous? leave comments and let me know.

I’ve noticed a strong correlation between people who take their total look seriously, and people who just neglect it. For example, I went to a restaurant the other day, and the manager was definitely going to the gym, he had his posture right, and you could see by the way he walk that he is successful.

1. Its Good For Better Position At Work

Did you ever see an ugly hostess standing on the entrance to a restaurant while you wait? I didn’t, usually their job is just to show you the way to your table, and then you’re assigned with a “hard working waitress”, the hostess is clearly picked by her looks, and while this apply to a restaurants, I’ve seen this happen in different workplaces, people that carry themselves more seriously and are well dressed/groomed, will eventually be noticed and get a promotion.

2. Its Radiating Success

Did you ever notice professional athletes dress in a suit for a commercial? do you think its their natural every day clothing? you bet its not, the advertisers just know that in order to sell you that new watch, or new perfume, the star should look like he just landed a gulfstream.

When you see a lady going the extra mile and wearing a dress, or putting on high heels, unlike most other ladies, you immediately put your focus on her, and you bet she is getting noticed in her social group also.

I’m not recommending ladies to start wearing dresses everyday and putting high heels, there are other ways to be fashionable and look good, wearing your hair right, putting nice jeans and t-shirt could definitely work.

3. Healthy People Look Better

Start noticing what you eat, I like the metaphor of the body as a Ferrari, maybe because I’m a guy it makes more sense to me, but if I would have owned a Ferrari, I wouldn’t put just normal oil and gas in it, I’d put premium gas, and same goes for my body, I try not to eat junk food, or generally food that is bad for you, most of what we’ve got in the supermarket is bad, so I try to focus on unpackaged food if possible, veggies fruits etc.

I believe that the reason some of you don’t like what they see in the mirror is, because you just simply don’t think that what you put have direct impact on how you look, but I have just tested it, eating few packs of chocolate bar every day, lots of white bread, and generally stuff that are bad for you, and I’m one of those guys who can “eat anything and never get fat”, however, I did gain some pounds, while nothing so noticeable, but I stopped just in time, and started reading material about “The Zone”.

So right now I’m only putting good food into my body, I do have my “cheat day” once a week, but I never go wild on it.

Be more healthy, if it means doing sport, eating the right foods (no white carbs no sweet drinks), you’ll have much more confidence and start feeling higher energies all throughout the day.

For more information I’d recommend this article: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/06/how-to-lose-20-lbs-of-fat-in-30-days-without-doing-any-exercise/

4. Its For Your Better Half

One of my good friends had his wife walking out on him, after they had their first child, it immediately made him lose his mind and hope.

Reason for her walking out? Him neglecting how he looks, you see… he got married (mission accomplished), got a child, and along the way just started eating lots of snacks, eating more cakes, generally consuming much more than he needed, out of pleasure of course.. well its backfired on him, because when he first married, he was handsome young guy, didn’t have a pound more than you’re expect, and he looked good, but after the marriage, he already got the women, so why should he care about the way he look?

That’s were the cheating starts, the wife doesn’t find you attractive anymore, but she does need to fulfill her needs, so she go look for it outside..

I’ve seen it happen the other side too, my friend had a really good looking GF, slim and pretty, 1 year in the relationship she started looking more round and chubby, just the way “he didn’t get her”, he stop becoming attracted to her, and ended the relationship.

I really suggest to always be on top of your game when it comes to outer look, it could be just noticing when you’ve reached the limit with food, or just having fun doing some sort of sport, and it makes wonders.

5. Confidence Confidence Confidence

Try this, go to work tomorrow with flip flops, short pants, don’t brush your teeth (well you see where I’m taking it), and notice how you feel.

Then go with Jeans, Sport shoes, do brush your teeth and put perfume, girls – put on some make up.

The way you will feel the day you went just a little bit over your top would feel much better than the previous one, I’m not saying that dressing with flip flops is bad, and I’m really encouraging it if you’re in a more tropical place like thailand etc, but the point I’m trying to make is, that if you will do simple things such as putting perfume on, and other stuff like that, you will have more confidence, and people will appreciate you much more.

Summary

To sum it all up, I just observed that successful people will always be more “self grooming”, I’ve seen it mostly when I was exercising in a really rich people’s gym, the ones who were more successful trained harder, they wanted to be “ready for success”, they always had strong perfume, and they were constantly noticing what they put in their system, after all, they really loved themselves, which is one of the reasons they were successful in the first place, they believed they deserve it.

Many people, especially since I work in a high-tech company and we have lots of classic computer geeks, they have a strong talent and can do amazing things, but they will never take it to the next level and open a start-up company, because they really don’t believe they will make it, their general outlook of like is negative, while the ones who do take care of themselves usually have stronger positions in the company, they get better promotions, and some even go out and open their own companies because they understand how smart they are and try to find a solution to a problem in their field.

So next time, do notice what you eat, and do notice how you go out of the house, it will make you feel better, and make people take you more seriously.

Recently I’ve been thinking about it a lot, because we hang our with people that we like, and usually they don’t necessarily want the same goals we do, I know that most of my friends will be happy with a stable job, working hard everyday and not really living the “Good life”, they just can’t imagine that it could happen.

Yesterday I met an old friend I didn’t meet for more than a year, this guy is really successful internet marketer, and I really appreciated our conversation, I saw that hanging out more with people like him will pave me the way to success.

One of my friends said “you earn the average of the 6 people you meet the most”, and I think that theory is pretty solid, I can see it in my life and the life of others, so I’m really trying to surround myself with people that have the same mindset as I have, because I’ve had enough trying to convince my childhood friends the “dream” of living off internet money, and other businesses is real, they just don’t seem to believe that you can really do something that you love in life, and make it.

Build Muscle Mass

On another note, I’ve kept up with my Muscle Building plan, I’m getting bigger and people compliment me on my results, I see that it really boils down to 2-3 hours per week of physical exercise, and eating right, I’m currently following one of my friend’s diet which is amazing:

He say that you need to eat by priorities.

Highest priority – Proteins

Second Priority – Salads

Third Priority and not recommended – White Carbs – Pasta, White Bread etc.

——-

So Simple right? I’m enjoying it since u don’t really have to keep up with calculations of intake and out take of calories, or anything like that, since I’m trying to build mass, I’ve been trying to take at least 90g of protein per day, but then I came across Tim Ferriss’s 4 Hours Body, and his calculation was 1.25x100lbs of weight, so since I weight 71KG now, I need to take 195g protein per day, I’m staying it this days but its A LOT for a small guy like me, so it’ll take time for me to see where to eat all of that proteins.

Typical day for me in the food wise looks like:

8:30 – Cottage cheese (27 g protein)

12:40 – Lunch, usually chicken breast with either Salad or mashed potatoes (no french fries even thought I love em, deep fried is just not good for ya).

15:30 – Apple + Cottage + Nuts(for oil)

19:00 – Dinner, Either Salad + Tuna (30 g protein), or my fruit shake + 32g protein

22:00 – Apple + Tuna/Cottage (hehe I hate cooking so I just take packaged stuff, but I do cook great!)

So counting the protein, its approx 150 g, which is still not 195 that Tim ferris was talking about, so I will need to add another meal, maybe at 11am, I’m not sure though.

On the side note – Exercising making my day more vibrant, I can feel the energies the exercises give me, I also use bicycle to go to and from work, so its another part where I “exercise” which is also good.

Business wise

I’m seeing good results in my SEO, however the keyword research was wrong, so I’m focusing now on a new batch of websites that will be much better and will drive more “Money” results.

I’m buying a VPN service tomorrow, so I could start driving HUGE traffic to my websites, as always, I don’t trust google for my bread and butter, so I’m trying to buy media from websites.

Results are not “leaving my day job” worthy yet:) but I am reinvesting everything in the business, and the media buys will be a big impact on the business since it will bring a lot of traffic at once and we could test conversions and make it more profitable.

Enjoy the weekend.

1. Google doesn’t like home pages that are less than 800 words.

2. Its best to build links in certain velocity and keep adding momentum.

3. Senuke is dead

4. Domain names with hyphens are working less good then those without, somakeitlikethis.com is better than so-make-it-like-this from my experiment.

5. Exact match domain still works, but I’m shifting my focus to bigger authority websites that are not targeting such a small niche.

That’s all for now.

My Western Digital HDD crashed! I left it at my dad’s place, and when I reinsert it to my computer I heard a horrible sound, like someone just crashed someone, my Macbook didn’t fix it and I took it to work and… no luck yet.

Its smart that I kept my older 500GB HDD and not only my 1TB one, always have double backup, thats the lesson.

Lately I’ve been pretty active in many parts of my goals, for example I already know 800 chinese characters, I gained 3 kg(6.6lbs) in about a month, and I’m just doing everything I can in order to succeed in the terms I set for myself.

My typical day looks like: 9am – 19pm Day job, 19:30-20:30 Exercise + 2nd Dinner, 21:00-1am Shower then flow of working on my business.

Its pretty “lifeless” but I chose it in order to finally achieve my goals, and I’m always imagining the end results so it could fuel me with power to keep working so hard, btw – on weekends I do relax 2 days.

What’s the challenge?

If anyone is really following me for a long time, he’ll know that I life the ideas Nik Halik is always giving, and one really strong idea is to tell people you know about your goals, in order to make them ask you and remind you about it all the time.

So over the last week I think I’ve told most of the people I know about my goals, so that they will keep asking me how it goes

And thats the challenge, to live up to my words, because words alone doesn’t worth much, taking action towards them, and execute them in a smart way is what gets everyone where they want to be.

Goals Checklist:

Make 10,000USD per month by the end of the year.

Become more muscular and in great shape by August.

Be able to communicate in Spanish and Russian by the end of the year.

Know 3000+ Characters in Chinese by the end of the year.

Get Skipper License.

Set the ground for my startups next year (get connections and know developers who could help).

——

Now I finally have the focus to do it, and I’m sure I’ll complete all of it.

As you may or may not know, I’ve made a small experiment with myself, which was to stop drinking coffee for 6 weeks.

I’ve read somewhere online that after 6 weeks you are completely off the caffeine so I wanted to test how it really affects me, and whether or not I could stop an addiction.

The process

It was fairly simple, I just didn’t drink coffee the whole time, and what I noticed is that in the first few days, I was actually taking it bad, I felt dizzy and like something is missing, but after about a week, the feeling was amazing, I replaced drinking water with drinking coffee, so whenever the “crash times” came, which are usually in 10am and 13:00pm, I just drank a lot of water and it kept me going.

It wasn’t so easy to not drink coffee all that time, and I even made a mistake by ordering a de-caf thinking its “without caffeine at all”, then while drinking it I went online and saw that there is a little bit of caffeine inside, so I stop drinking it.

Am I still an addict?

Nope, I think that I’ve just proven the fact, that after not drinking coffee for 6 weeks, one can completely overcome the physical needs to drink a cup of coffee, but actually, the smell was killing me, all of that time I had to smell other people’s coffee knowingly that I cannot drink it, and it was the most difficult part about the experiment.

Results after drinking it again

The first cup of coffee was really different, it wasn’t like the first time in my life, but it sure was long lasting feeling of waking up, I was even a bit jittery, and actually after 2 weeks of drinking coffee again, I still have a good “in the zone” feeling after drinking.

To sum it all up, I think that its something that I’m going to do every once in a while, just eliminate completely some drug or substance that I’m addicted to, and then retake it (only if its good) again after the recommended “rehab” time.

So few key facts:

1. We actually generated losses on February – Every new business start negative, however I did manage to start the year with x-mas push and have some really great weeks with NET profit.

2. The business failed faster – This is good, since when you’re failing faster that means you tested more ways that doesn’t work, for example if in the beginning of the month my websites made 2x, by the end of the month they made about 1.3x, and in the last few days (beginning of March) they are starting to come back to 2x.

The rest of it:

The business is much more organized now, I’ve implemented Dropbox into our reports, before we used clockingit which is a free project management system that I’ve used but lately find not so comfortable, so what we end up doing is putting our daily reports into excel files, for example if we have project #1, then there’s EmployeeName Project#1.xlsx, and in side there is the reporting of the whole links she created over the week / other stuff that she have done.

Other than that I’m loving Workflowy lately, before I had a big mess with Evernote (which was recommended by Tim Ferris), so I solve it with the One Simple Note that Workflowy gives, today I looked at the completed (and hidden) tasks that I’ve made over the time I used it, and its simply amazing how many things I have done

So all in all, February was below the revenue goal that I have set to it, I’m a bit disappointed because January almost doubled the revenue goal it had (which was pretty low hehe), but now the business have some lag between Feb revenue to the expected March revenue, and so we need to work harder to breach the lag.

I’m positive that I will

After being successful on the Caffeine experiment, I decided to further expend my new experimental lifestyle and finally gain muscle mass.

Most of my life I was the slim one, I eat whatever I want and I never get fat, but there was a specific time in my life, on which I was doing some extreme sports, and I’ve read a book from one really crazy guy which is actually a doctor of physical therapy, and that guy is doing base jump and everything, so what I always remember him writing on his book is that before going to a specific extreme sport mission, he is always training the right muscle group.

At that time I was doing skydiving because of him, and I started doing Snowboarding, but after snowboarding for the first time in my life my legs just hurt like hell, so then I went to the gym, started practicing specifically on the legs, and when I went snowboarding again, it became easy, and when I was doing snowboarding season in new zealand I was actually the fattest and most fittest in my life, because I guess doing snowboarding is a all body workout, so I did see results, and the second time was when I was exercising with a friend to which I created a website : http://isportech.com , where he show how to train correctly.

Over the last few days, I got pretty confidence that if I really set a goal to gain mass, and I’ll eat right, sleep right, and practice right, I’ll be able to do it, one more thing that helped me see it was Tim ferris’s article “from geek to freak“, while I know he “regained muscles” which is far easier than gaining them in the first place, I don’t believe I can do it in 28 days and I won’t even try, I went again to my friend from isportech, and asked him to help me grow, because this time I really will do it, and he agreed (being one of my best friends he must!).

Here’s the plan:

I currently weight 67.8kg (149 lbs), and my height is 1:80m (5.9”), that’s actually one of my fattest shapes, I usually weight about 63-65kg, but these days I’m just eating hell of a lot more than I usually eat in order to gain weight.

My diet will be:

Morning – Protein shake with raspberries + oat + banana, and on the side walnuts for oil.

Lunch – Chicken breast / Fish, + Rice and beans, and sometimes I’ll change it to Sushi with salmon.

Dinner – Sandwich with Tuna / Just Tuna + Pasta.

Late Dinner – Same shake as the morning shake.

On weekends I guess I’ll “cheat” and have shakes but sometimes different food depending on what my father / sister cook (which is usually very nutrient food anyways with lots of protein so its ok).

This will keep my energies level high, and will “feed my muscles”.

I’m still not sure about the exercises as my friend should set them personally for me, and he is even going to be filming a special edition of the isportech on “how to train well from home” exercises, because after more than 10 years of experience he see that people that just train right, can train much less and see much more results, he always say that the key factors are eating well(33%), sleep (33%), and exercise (33%), he never take protein shake or any steroids, he like to keep it healthy, when we offer him snacks / cola, he always reply “I don’t touch that shit”, he also never drink alcohol and he is the funniest dude I ever known, and we partied hard in Thailand / Israel so I know for sure that alcohol has nothing to do with having fun.

My friend said that generally it should take me about 6 months to see real results, and I like to believe him so I won’t try to be Tim Ferris and do it in 28 days.

The key factor

I believe that the key factor for success in this experiment is determinations and clear goals, until now I always wanted to have “more muscles”, but I wasn’t clear on what will I want to look like, so I was walking in the dark, but now I’m certain, I want to have a really fit body, to be able to do all tasks in the sports I like without having any problems with the physical aspect.

Some of my inspiration is vince delmonte:

Why I do it?

First and foremost is in order to feel better, I know that my friend is on top of his game, he practice all the time, sometimes he speak to me on the phone while he is running for 40 minutes, and he doesn’t miss a breath, I want to be in the best physical shape I can.

Second of all – I love sports, and it will help me enjoy them much more.

3 – To prove myself that I can, it currently seems impossible, since I’m going to do it without going to the gym (no time with my business and day-work), while other people think its impossible, I think its nice to prove everyone including my self that it is possible, that’s why I bought this thing -

And I’ve got in my house dumbbells, curl barbell and soon also a pull up bar.

4 – While I’m pretty confident about the way I look, I still think it will further impress the ladies to see someone who is on top of his game.

5 – When I was going to the gym two years straight, I went to a very expensive gym (paid by the big corporation that hired me), and I saw that many of the people that do come there often drive porche, cool audi etc, seems like people that attract money are on top of their game and control their life well, and that’s of course the point I want to be at.

All that being said, I’ll have to start working out with higher weights, and all of the major muscles groups as my friend will teach me, I was exercising about twice a week in the last 2 months, but its not enough, I need to push it to the limits.

76 Domains registered this year, that’s gotta be a lot of work, right?

Well I’m doing it while working a day job, which means I have no life, plus I have staff of talented VA’s that handle the content creation and putting up the design and articles in tact.

Actually we’ve taken this week off from the creating 10 websites, and I did a re-evaluation of the whole thing, the websites are still not all ranked high, which means that we’re not getting a lot of traffic yet.

One thing I have to say after creating 76 new websites in a little more than a month, most domains get ranked fast for their exact matched keyword after 3-5 days, and then after about two weeks they disappear from the google radar.

Quitting Coffee addiction

When I first started working, I saw two down times, one was in the morning, when I just arrive to work, I feel like I just woke up, and the other is when I finish lunch, in those two times I crashed, so I used our favorite modern time drug “Coffee”, we’ve got a nice cafe maker in the office and it seems like a cool idea when I just started working.

But after a while I noticed that the caffeine is affecting me less and less, and I needed to drink coffee more times just to keep up, so I remembered reading somewhere maybe in Tim Ferris’s books that caffeine addiction lasts only 6 weeks, while cigarette addiction lasts for about 16 months, I’m not a smoker since my grand father passed away from lung cancer, but quitting caffeine seems like a good enough challenge, in the 8th of March it will be 6 weeks since I stop drinking caffeinated beverages.

To say the truth, the feeling is amazing! I no longer have those “crash times”, I just keep myself hydrated with water all day long, and I can’t wait to get to the 8th of March in order to see how coffee affects me now, it must be a boost! but I won’t get back to it, I’ll just drink it sometimes socially like I do with drinking alcohol.

30 Days to purchase

I’ve seen Eban pagan’s programs, and I don’t remember in which, but in one of them he said that you should probably think 30 days before you make a big purchase, to see if its really something that u need, and not just an impulse, I think he said that in “Self Made Wealth”.

I did it on the iPhone 4S purchase, I waited, and lurked, and saw if it’s a game changer for me, and if I really need it, and in the end, after exactly 30 days I had it in my hands and I think it is one of the smartest purchases I’ve made in years, I love having a camera with me at all time quick shout out for the best camera app HDR PRO(eyeappsllc.com) recommended also by Dan.

It gives me the ability to connect with my team at all time, it’s a great entertainment device and it gets me to take pics all the time (like the pic from this post).

So I think the 30 Days to purchase is crucial if you want to keep your wealth, it’s only meant for big purchases so 200USD+, but I think that I’m going to use a smaller timeframe for smaller purchases, for example I recently bought a noise canceling headphones in order not to hear all the mess that is going on in the office so I could keep my productivity to the top, and it was about a 100USD, so I waited like 2 weeks before I jumped in and purchased it, I know for sure that this way I will save a lot of money on useless stuff that won’t contribute for my lifestyle.

Cheers,

This week was very exciting, first of all, I’ve hired my second VA, she is really dedicated and works great, I hope the ROI on her will be awesome as well.

I actually hired her in order to give my other VA more free time, so she could help me with the research part, since I’m about to make 520 websites, I need a lot of keywords that will convert!

I said fair well to my best friend, who is in a really exciting time of his like, he flew away to Thailand, and I will miss him, but that’s what skype is for, you might be interested at readin his blog at: http://passiveincometrip.com/.

I had a problem with Piwik, its the way I use to see enters to my websites, it seems that if you’re not running it from a dedicated server the latency time is too high, so I’ve decided to stop putting it on my websites until I have a dedicated server. Why I use piwik? I just don’t want google to have THAT much information like they have when I use analytics.

After all that said and done, now I’m going to do what we customers do, “Buy on emotion and justify with logic”, long story short, I’m finally giving up and buying an iPhone 4S.. I’ve got a Macbook, and I love Apple, but I always wanted to stay “unique” in my phone, so my current phone is Samsung Wave, its pretty fast phone, but now the Camera option is working very bad, when you press on the button, it doesn’t take a picture, and it doesn’t have a touch screen alternative to the real button.

I’ve seen that I didn’t take normal pictures for about 2 years now, I hate this current phone that I have, and my Camera is like 6 years old, its compact and all, but you can’t see anything on night shots, so.. I’m buying a 4S, I’ve heard only good things about its Camera, I see it in action everyday since I’m working in a Company which develops also an IOS app, so its pretty common with us, I finally gave up, I really wanted NOT TO BUY IT, but I really believe that “The best Camera, is the one on you”, and since I usually don’t carry a bag, and I don’t have an extra pocket for my compact Camera, the phone is my only option, and the iPhone should be the best, Yes, I know that Samsung S2 have a nice Camera as well, but I’m growing to hate Android everyday (especially since I’m developing some stuff to it at work), and I saw many comparison which showed the the 4S wins.

Just to show you what kind of Quality my old camera from 5 years ago takes:

No image stabilization.

It’ just too annoying to carry it around

Oh, and as Eban pagan always said, I’m waiting a month with this Decision because I want to see if I really should spend that amount of money, I’m already pretty convinced I should do it, but the date for after a month is the 8th of February, so whoever wants to convince me not to buy an iPhone, can leave a comment.

Cheers!
